Indiana Landmarks’ Rapp Family Gallery hosts an exploration and celebration of female energy presented by FLAVA FRESH!, featuring painting, sculpture, mixed media, music by DJ iSM, dancing, spoken word performance, and live painting at the opening reception on August 3, 6 to 9 p.m.
The all-woman art show explores the complexities of female identity through reflection on the sacred, the spiritual, myth, mystery, folklore, and societal behaviors. Artists include Artists include Amanda Doty Al-Shaikhali, Tasha Beckwith, Lydia Burris, Donna Cook-Smith, D. Del Reverda-Jennings, Leena Dobouni, Shunae Drake, Andrea Dudgeon, Mirvia Sol Eckert, Eve Eggleston, Bernade Flournoy, Andrea Jandernoa, Nancy Kruse, Laura Levine, Ann Luther, Latoya Marlin, Stacey Maupin Torres, Nina McCoy, Nora Musu, Kate Oberreich, Nicole Powell, Rebecca Robinson, Dana Rae Roudebush, Goddess Sanura, Ludie Senatus, April Sunami, MK Watkins, and Shayla Williams.
FLAVA FRESH! is an annual juried exhibition series of contemporary art founded and curated by D. Del Reverda- Jennings. The project is an initiative to bring about greater exposure, awareness, appreciation, inspiration and support for visual artists; especially beginners, newly-discovered, under-represented and emerging artists in all disciplines and genres.
Complimentary snacks and beverages will be available at the First Friday reception. Guests can also tour Indiana Landmarks Center at 1201 Central Avenue in Indianapolis. Built as a Methodist church in the nineteenth century, the restored and adapted structure holds theaters and a reception hall in addition to the gallery and Indiana Landmarks’ headquarters.
